Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and oversee engineering projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, industry codes, and safety regulations.
- Review, approve, stamp, and sign engineering documents and drawings in accordance with professional licensing requirements.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary design and application teams to ensure efficient project execution and timely delivery.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and evaluations to verify progress aligns with project plans.
- Analyse complex technical issues and develop innovative, practical engineering solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, cost estimates, and proposals for clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with customers, contractors, and other industry professionals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, standards, and best practices relevant to the discipline.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, including environmental and safety legislation.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership within the organization.
Qualifications, Experience & Key Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Active Professional Engineering accreditation from ECSA.
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, specifically with pressure vessels.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards (e.g., EN, ASME, SANS 347, PER), and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in engineering design software and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Experience with design verification using FEA.
- Problem-solving expertise in rotating equipment environments.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems such as Navision or SAP.
- Strong interpersonal and team collaboration abilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Customer-focused with strong presentation skills.
