Professional Electrical Engineer

About the position

A leading engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Engineer for their Pretoria office. The ideal candidate will be a professionally registered engineer with strong technical expertise in electrical building services and renewable energy systems. This role requires a proactive individual capable of managing projects independently while maintaining high technical and quality standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical engineering designs for a variety of building services projects
• Prepare technical specifications, reports, and contract documentation
• Design and coordinate electronic building services systems
• Develop energy-efficient electrical solutions and renewable energy designs
• Manage projects through all stages, from concept design to final handover
• Ensure compliance with SANS regulations and client requirements
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Support construction monitoring and contract administration activities

Candidate Requirements

• BEng or BSc qualification in Electrical Engineering
• ECSA registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer
• Minimum 5-10 years' experience in electrical engineering design and project management
• Experience within commercial, retail, residential, institutional, or healthcare projects
• Knowledge of rooftop PV, solar, and energy storage systems advantageous
• Familiarity with GCC, JBCC, NEC, and related contracts beneficial
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills
• Software proficiency in AutoCAD, Dialux/Ulysse, Reticmaster/Powamaster, MS Office, and MS Project
