Professional Civil Engineer

About the position

Our client is a multi-disciplinary company with head office in Durban, South Africa and branches around RSA as well as Mauritius, Kenya and the UK. Our services include engineering, project management, quantity surveying, environmental consulting, management consulting and town planning. The company is looking for a vibrant and dynamic young individual to join their civil engineering team.

The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria:

• Applicants must be a Graduate with a B.Sc. / B.Tech (Civil Eng.) degree.
• Candidates must be registered or close to being as a [URL Removed] or [URL Removed] Eng (Civil Eng.)
• ECSA Registration certificate or Engineer in Training certificate to accompany application (any cancelled registrations with ECSA will not be considered)
• Leadership skills underpinned by strong technical ability.
• Should be looking to make a final move for a long-term career with SiVEST.
• Minimum 5 years' technical experience and 1- 2 years' team leadership experience (most of which in a consulting engineering firm)

Experience in:
o
Infrastructure design
o
Roads, earthworks, storm water and sewer - essential
o
Storm water management
o
Pump station design (both sewer and water supply) desirable.

• Experience in the following industries / areas - a strong advantage:
• Municipal engineering, Housing infrastructure, Industrial
• Other required skills, abilities and behaviours:
  o Must be active in the design field and proficient in use of MS Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D (essential) and IDAS an advantage
  o Knowledgeable in Hec-ras, GIS, PCSWMM or similar an advantage
  o Knowledgeable in eThekwini standards an advantage
  o Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
  o Accurate - with strong attention to detail
  o Confident, with strong interaction / people skills
  o Dynamic and driven - yet humble
  o Even tempered
  o Team player

Key result areas (technical and managerial):

• Technical expertise on civils projects
• Technology Design
• Deliver complete projects through the full project life cycle would be an advantage
• Client and stakeholder relationship management
• Project specific controls

• Mentorship of junior engineers

• Must have a driver's license and be willing to travel to sites in SA and Africa if required.
  Start date: 1 April 2024 or sooner if possible.
