About the position

Position - Accountant

We have an available position for an Accountant in our Accounting Department. The primary focus of this role is to provide financial services to a diverse range of companies.

The successful candidate will be required to have a minimum of 3 years of experience within an accounting practice.

Accountant - (Bilingual Afrikaans & English) Salary expectation (R 30 000 - R 35 000 max).

Duties

• Processing of day to day transactions, bank entries, suppliers invoices and customer invoices;
• Preparing the monthly / bi-monthly VAT returns and the submission of thereof. Maintaining VAT reconciliation between the VAT returns and the financial statements;
• Preparing payrolls for various customers and checking that the statutory deductions (PAYE etc), are accurately maintained;
• Posting of Payroll journals to the accounting records, submitting of PAYE returns to SARS; - Not mandatory
• Knowledge of Pastel Partner, Xero and Sage, Quick Books
• Good working knowledge of Caseware
• Good working knowledge of Pastel Payroll
• Good working knowledge of Company Act and Income Tax Act
• Knowledge of VAT and Employees tax and related items (COIDA/ UIF)
• Knowledge of Easy File and SARS E-Filing.
• Candidate must come from a accounting practise background. - Very Important
• Financial statements:
• Preparing working paper files for compilation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SME's -
• Draft of financial statement at year end (Caseware);

13.Taxation:- Completing and submitting of annual tax returns;- Knowledge of E-Filing very important.- Ensure compliance of clients with SARS legislation.- Corresponding with SARS regarding tax matter.

14.Good people skills and communication skills.

Qualifications - Degree and completed articles not mandatory BUT will be a great advantage and big income potential determining factor (Bachelors in accounting) or similar or at leased 4 years experience in an accounting position at accounting firms.
