Production Technician at NRF National Research Foundation

About the position

Postion Summary:
The production technician is required to assemble and test electronic modules and systems designed and produced by SARAO.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce Receiver Systems, modules and components according to manufacturing data packs
• Provide logistics engineering support to Receiver systems deployed to the fieldIntegrate, test and troubleshoot of modules and systemsCompile test procedure and reportsProcurement of components and equipment required for Receiver production or laboratory needs

Minimum Qualification:

• Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:

• 5-5 years

• National Diploma: Electronics / Electrical5 years electronic testing experience Valid divers licence

Experience:

• RF module testing and fault findingDigital module testing and fault findingElectronic systems testing and fault findingHands-on experience in PCB manufacturing, assembly, repair and testing
• Quality standards for electronic production (ISO 9001)Training and/or knowledge of IPC standardsUse of electronic test equipment PSU, Spectrum analyser, Signal generator, Oscilloscope etc

Knowledge:

• Good understanding of circuit testing methods and techniquesGood understanding of RF modules and componentsUnderstanding of electronic designUnderstanding and interpretation of component datasheetsUnderstanding of circuit diagrams and PCB layout designsTechnical report writingExperience with Linux operating systems and python scripting is advantageous
• Experience with fibre optic applications is advantageous
