PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR – OPEN-CAST MINING

We are looking for a hands-on, performance-driven Production Supervisor to take charge of daily mining operations in a fast-paced open-cast environment. This is a critical frontline leadership role where safety, productivity, and operational excellence meet.

?? Your Impact
As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for executing shift production plans and ensuring that all mining activities run safely, efficiently, and in line with operational targets. You will lead teams on the ground, coordinate resources, and keep production moving—every shift, every day.
?? Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily production activities across load & haul, drilling, blasting, or plant operations
- Ensure achievement of shift, weekly, and monthly production targets
- Allocate equipment and crews to maximise productivity and cycle times
- Conduct pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks, and shift handovers
- Coordinate with dispatch, engineering, maintenance, and geology teams
- Enforce compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA) and site procedures
- Monitor equipment performance, utilisation, and downtime
- Maintain accurate production reports, delay tracking, and operational data
- Ensure quality control of material, stockpiling, and coal specifications
- Respond to and manage incidents, hazards, and emergency situations
?? What You Bring
- Solid experience in open-cast mining production environments
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver results under pressure
- Strong understanding of mining equipment and production processes
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Strong focus on safety, risk management, and compliance
- Experience with fleet management / production reporting systems is an advantage
?? Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 3–7+ years’ experience in open-cast mining, including supervisory experience
- Valid driver’s licence and mine medical fitness
- Supervisor or mining-related certification (advantageous)
- Blasting certification (advantageous, site-dependent)
