Production Supervisor

About the position

Key Competencies:

The basic duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Manage employees and maintain job results by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees.
• Manage and evaluate performance of production employees.
• Daily managing the work allocated to employees in production.
• Supervise and oversee manufacturing process.
• Plan and draw up a production schedule.
• Co-ordinate employees in the Production department, supervising the co-ordination of work to ensure that requirements are completed as per specs, time and quality requirements.
• Control of stock required for manufacturing process.
• Ensure production and quality standards meet the Company requirements.
• Develop and improve on manufactured products.
• Ensure that routine maintenance is conducted to keep machinery and facilities in good working order to avoid unnecessary downtime, and document and report maintenance and repair work.
• Accurate maintenance of all records, systems and procedures.
• Ensure that work areas and equipment is regularly cleaned and kept tidy.
• Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure safe and positive work atmosphere.
• Manage and evaluate performance of production personnel.
• Ensure production team adhere to Company HSE rules and regulations
• General duties and ad hoc tasks, projects and requests when required

Required Skills

• Production supervision: 2 to 3 years
• Manufacturing systems: 2 to 3 years
• Manufacturing environment: >3 years
• Excellent planning skills essential
• Must be Computer Literate on MS Office and an ERP System like SAP or Syspro
• Knowledge of lean production, SIX Sigma etc. would be an advantage
