About the position
Our client, a leading Chemical Manufacturing company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Production Shift Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support the production team leaders and other plant personnel.
- Leads continuous improvement in line with LSS and 5S principles.
- Produce final products according to the production schedule and fully exploit opportunities to improve production efficiency and quality.
- Ensures the highest standards of SHE is maintained throughout the site and works with the team to continually improve performance.
- Ensures any product non-conformity is reported immediately and assists in the root cause analysis.
- Ensures, through routine monitoring and auditing that the plant and equipment is in safe and efficient working order and works with engineering to ensure any issues are addressed promptly
- Audit all daily and weekly checks.
- Carries out accident and incident investigation relating to their shift and areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for writing and authorizing Permits-to-Work as and when required.
- Be accountable for the site in management's absence.
- Take part and give input in the stock take activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Degree/Diploma in Chemical or Process Engineering
- 5 years on a Chemical manufacturing site
