About the position
Our client, a leading Cement Manufacturing / Quarry based company in Port Shepstone, is looking to fill the position of Production Planner.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, cement, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the statistical database, collating all production statistics and reports, and monitoring and reconciling all production stock, including raw, WIP, and finished goods, for weekly, month-end, and year-end reporting. The incumbent will also be responsible for the timeous sourcing of all raw materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Reports:
- Prepare all production reports and statistical information daily, monthly, or yearly, and as and when required, coordinate SAP reports and inputs for the entire production line.
- Coordinate SAP reports and inputs for the entire production line, i.e., quarry to cement.
- Assist in consolidating the month-end closing.
Material Stock Management:
- Order or purchase all raw materials, including grinding media, fuels, alternative fuels, co-processing materials, etc., and receipting on SAP.
- Monitor daily variances between physical vs SAP and notify production manager of sudden deviations.
- Daily stock count, monitor, and update stock on the SOP file.
Information Management:
- Supply plant production information on request by management, other branches, and holding company.
- Coordinate benchmarking information for presentation at technical monthly management and other meetings.
Production Planning:
- Plan all production activities to meet production and sales targets.
Profitability Management:
- Production budgets and costs reports, including stock reconciliation.
- Support the production shifts as and when required to optimise output and sales.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric/Grade 12
- National Diploma in Production/Industrial Management, Chemical/ Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years as a Production Planner
- Minimum 2 years' supervisory, planning, and production experience, preferably in heavy engineering
- Computer literate - good knowledge of Excel,
- SAP ERP System certification.
- Must be able to write and present reports
