The Production Manager is responsible for the overall management and coordination of plant operations, including production planning, resource allocation, quality control, health and safety compliance, and team leadership.
This role plays a critical part in driving continuous improvement initiatives, reducing downtime, and optimising output. The ideal candidate will demonstrate hands-on leadership, a commitment to operational excellence, and a strong understanding of ISO, Quality Management Systems, and safety regulations.
In addition, this position supports the strategic goals of the organisation by ensuring the factory runs smoothly, meets production KPIs, and supports broader business sustainability and profitability objectives..
Responsibilities:
- Achieve planned production targets according to specified standards and timelines.
- Monitor production efficiency and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Plan and oversee routine plant maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with the lab to ensure effective quality control processes.
- Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and internal safety protocols.
- Lead, mentor, and manage teams of operators and labourers to achieve optimal performance.
- Maintain and implement ISO and other relevant Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Diploma-level pass.
- Diploma in Production Management (essential).
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in an industrial process plant.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a team of operators/labourers.
- At least 2 years’ experience in safety management and quality control systems.
- Fluent in both English and isiZulu (spoken and written).
- Excellent understanding of ISO, Health and Safety, and Quality Management Systems.
