About the position
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Manager to oversee the entire manufacturing process at our Kensington, Cape Town facility. This role involves leading a team of 130 employees, ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all production operations, from raw material intake to packaging and dispatch.
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet demand while optimizing efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate supervisors and production staff to enhance productivity.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control, health, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment, coordinating repairs and maintenance as required.
- Analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage labor requirements, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Promote a safe and compliant work environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-6 years of experience in production management within the food manufacturing or confectionery industry, preferably with corn and flour-based products.
- Strong knowledge of food processing equipment and production workflows.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage and develop large teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and cost management.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality management systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle labor-related challenges.
