My client based in Zambia is currently looking for a Production Engineering Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
Qualifications
- MSc. in Engineering
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
- 4 years relevant work experience with Engineering background
- Professional Engineering Certification
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement best practice engineering strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance operational performance
- Design, validate, and maintain production systems to deliver products on time, to cost, and in line with quality standards
- Lead engineering projects, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget
- Identify, justify, and manage capital equipment investments
- Conduct risk assessments on processes and tasks to ensure safe and reliable operations
- Ensure preventative maintenance targets (90%+) are consistently met
- Drive functional excellence in the production engineering team
- Lead initiatives to improve cycle times, process reliability, and machine availability using lean manufacturing and value engineering principles
- Optimize material usage, critical spares stocking, and energy efficiency to minimize waste and costs
- Deliver improvement in ice plant optimization and cold chain monitoring (95%+ efficiency)
- Manage, supervise, and mentor the production engineering team, ensuring adequate staffing and high performance
- Create and maintain training schedules to build team capability
- Motivate and coach staff to achieve operational and strategic goals
- Monitor performance, ensuring completion of tasks and accurate reporting
- Establish and track KPIs to measure operational effectiveness
- Produce engineering reports and provide management with data-driven insights for decision-making
- Ensure project planning effectiveness and schedule adherence
- Ensure all operations align with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Maintain a safe working environment for employees and visitors
- Monitor lake operations safety configurations and compliance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives
- Work closely with management to recommend and implement process and system improvements
