About the position
Our client is seeking an experienced Product Specialist to bridge the gap between legal practice, contract lifecycle management and enterprise technology. This is a specialist opportunity for a legal professional who understands commercial contracts and can translate legal requirements into structured workflows, product requirements and practical system functionality.
The successful candidate will work across the full contract lifecycle, from intake and matter creation through drafting, negotiation, approvals, e-signature, AI-assisted review, contract activation, obligations, renewals, amendments and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Map and optimise end-to-end contract and legal workflows.
- Translate legal and client requirements into structured fields, workflows, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Design and validate contract intake forms, matter creation and pre-signature workflows.
- Test drafting, negotiation, approvals, Delegation of Authority and e-signature functionality.
- Configure and validate post-signature contract records, metadata, lifecycle events and obligations.
- Test AI-assisted contract review, summarisation, clause extraction, risk assessment and document comparison.
- Develop and refine legal risk playbooks covering areas such as confidentiality, indemnity, liability, termination, insurance and dispute resolution.
- Define and test contractual obligations, tasks, reminders, triggers and evidence requirements.
- Validate dates, terms, renewals, notice periods and termination mechanics.
- Support the linking and management of amendments, addenda and master agreements.
- Analyse contract datasets and support migration, classification, reconciliation and data-quality initiatives.
- Plan and execute expert UAT, regression testing and release validation.
- Investigate defects and distinguish between product, configuration, AI, data and process issues.
- Work closely with product owners, developers, implementation teams and clients to refine solutions.
- Support client demonstrations, training, UAT sessions and adoption activities.
- Contribute to reporting, dashboards and contract-management information requirements.
Requirements
- LL.B or equivalent legal qualification.
- Strong practical experience in commercial contracts, contract drafting, contract review, contract management or legal operations.
- Experience within legal technology, Contract Lifecycle Management, matter management, product specialisation or enterprise software.
- Proven ability to translate legal concepts into structured data, workflows and testable requirements.
- Hands-on UAT and software-testing experience, including defect investigation and validation.
- Strong understanding of contract metadata, structured fields and document-based testing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage confidently with legal professionals, clients, product teams and technical stakeholders.
Advantageous
- Admission as an Attorney with post-qualification commercial/legal experience.
- Experience with AI-assisted contract review, NLP, clause extraction or legal AI.
- Experience configuring risks, obligations, tasks, events, metadata and contract types within a CLM platform.
- Knowledge of e-signature, document collaboration, approvals/DoA and matter management.
- Experience with Agile product delivery, user stories and release planning.
- Contract migration, classification, deduplication or amendment-linking experience.
- Experience presenting legal technology solutions to clients.
- Exposure to FICA/KYC, POPIA or legal compliance workflows.
