About the position
Leading supplier of pharmaceutical products and medical devices requires a Product Specialist to join their team. A minimum of 2 years hospital / clinical sales experience, calling on hospitals / clinics / theatre / surgeons etc. Pain / analgesics experience will secure.
Experience & Qualifications
Diploma / Degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Science, Physiology or related clinical qualification
Minimum 2 - 5 years’ sales experience in medical devices, clinical support, market access or product management
Experience with pain portfolio will secure
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
High-quality communication, presentation, and training skills
Experience engaging with clinical stakeholders and funders
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook
Valid code 08 driver’s license & own transport
Able to work afterhours.
This role is responsible for providing clinical and technical expertise, supporting market access initiatives, and work closely with sales, regulatory, commercial, and funder stakeholders to ensure optimal product uptake in the Johannesburg territory.
Sales & Commercial Development
Drive sales activity across all customer segments, including clinicians, wholesales, private and public hospital groups, and procurement stakeholders.
Engage directly with purchasing committees, tender boards, formulary decision-makers and key opinion leaders to maximise product adoption
Work closely with the Sales Teams to identify, pursue, and close commercial opportunities.
Support tender submissions, pricing proposals, and strategic selling initiatives
Contribute to account planning, sales forecasting, and territory development to ensure sustainable revenue growth
Product & Clinical Expertise
Serves as the subject matter expert for clinical products.
Deliver clinical training, product demonstrations, and educational support to internal teams and customers.
Support clinicians and sales representatives with in-field product queries
Facilitate workshops, training events, and clinical education programmes
Market Access & Reimbursement Support
Assist with coding, reimbursement, and HTA-related submissions for funders and hospital groups, including price file maintenance and implementation.
Prepare clinical and technical documentation for product evaluations
Engage with funders, administrators, and managed care organisations to address coding and reimbursement queries
Track market access progress and report on reimbursement barriers
Commercial & Strategic Support
Support business plans, tenders, pricing structures, and market segmentation projects
Conduct competitor and market landscape analysis
Assist in product launch readiness and development of clinical positioning
Contribute to cross-functional commercial initiatives
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with the Sales Teams to unlock opportunities and drive product adoption
Collaborate with Regulatory, Finance, Marketing, Training teams, and Customer Services Department
Provide structured monthly reports and insights to management
Support the development of national and regional strategies
