Product Owner: e-commerce merchandising

We organise our product team into pods of Product Owners, where each pod aligns to a domain or business area. We are seeking a strong software Product owner to look after the e-commerce merchandising domain:
1. Shopping merchandising Journey on app
2. Merchandising and category management tooling
This role requires experience managing complex product and promotions system integrations, driving the shopping and product components on the customer-facing apps and cross-domain dependencies to implement the best customer solutions. You will be required to collaborate closely with cross-functional product teams in business areas including Merchandising, category management, third party services, advanced data analytics, and technology. A successful candidate will drive the success of the e-commerce shopping journey on our apps and websites. The role oversees the development of key products and services alongside the product owners in the e-commerce Pod.
Duties & Responsibilities
Set Product Vision and direction
Contribute to creating and evolving the company-wide product strategy with the leaders of the division.
Own the strategic roadmap and ensure alignment with organisational goals and market demands.
Drive annual strategy sessions to ensure KPI alignment with the business and the Product roadmap.
Be close to and represent the data or research findings of how your product/platform users behave and what they want/need
Demonstrate leadership and communication skills with success in influencing all levels cross-functionally
You are responsible for communicating the product vision to all key stakeholders across the broader organisation.
Maintain Product Feature Roadmap and Backlog
You will lead complex cross-dependency solutioning and manage the end-to-end product development, from planning to delivery, ensuring seamless integration with all our third-party providers.
You will be responsible for implementation backlog creation and management. Ensuring prioritization of key business drivers across multiple stakeholders, and ensuring this is communicated to all stakeholders, including the development team.
As part of prioritisation, you will assess the business value, develop business cases, and prioritise stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with the maximum value aligned with product strategy.
Product Performance & Optimisation
Bring a high degree of commerciality, with a focus on customer and business impact, ensuring the commercial sustainability of the products we launch.
Make decisions, strategy, priority, and impact visible and understood via roadmaps, one-pagers, reports, and (most importantly) great conversations.
Measure and present results and progress toward product goals.
Lead on selecting product input metrics that influence the strategic business output metrics and contribute to establishing KPIs
Define the necessary metrics and reporting to continuously track the performance of the product.
Product Excellence in Process & Delivery
Ability to be focused on the right priorities, aligned with the strategy and our target customer segments, and quantified/prioritised using tools such as MOSCOW and Business scoring.
Prioritise time to market using a minimum viable product. Challenge hard on must haves versus nice to haves. Ensure the discipline of hypothesis-driven development.
Product one pagers are developed with usefulness for the entire organisation, defining the product challenge/opportunity and with the appropriate approach to the solution.
Manage and maintain your domain roadmaps.
Desired Experience & Qualification
A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar relevant field is beneficial, but not required.
Certified as Scrum Product Owner
Previous working experience as a Product Owner in e-commerce (5+ years)
Experience in working with payment gateways, banks, various payment methods, and financial reconciliation of transactions
Experience in building and running customer-facing e-commerce websites and apps.
Experience in the measurements and KPIs required to track the performance of an e-commerce business.
Payment Systems Knowledge - Familiarity with payment systems and the specific requirements for building payment platforms
In-depth knowledge of Agile processes and principles
Proficient in the Atlassian tool suite
