About the position
Our client based in Germiston, is seeking a Product Manager - Ceramics to join their team. The ideal candidate would collaborate with the General Manager and Head of sales and
business development in setting the strategy for the growth and
development of the product line and in defining the product
positioning, offer and pricing, in line with the market
expectation.
Summary of Description:
- Prepares and periodically updates the market study, researching and reporting on market intelligence, through market surveys as required, ensuring that HQ and Management is kept informed of changes in the market which will affect its performance.
- Analyses and identifies the market potentiality, cooperating with the sales force in order to estimate potential sales and activate the appropriate distribution channels.
- Manages and provides technical support to the sales force, participating to visits to customers, promoting the products, identifying the most appropriate solutions and carrying out training activities on their correct application.
- Periodically reviews the sales results, in order achieve the expected and budgeted sales targets for the product line.
- Is responsible for product sales performance and margins in collaboration with the Distribution Manager.
- Is responsible for the introduction of new products through an effective launch strategy, for the product testing together with the R&D Department and for the development of the related technical literature together with the Marketing Department.
- Collaborates with the R&D Department for the development of new products for the local market, including the verification of the products parameters and formulation during the industrial product testing.
- Cooperates with the Operational Marketing, Quality Systems, HSE and Technical Assistance Departments for the creation and updating of the technical datasheets and literature, as well as packaging, labelling and product catalogues.
- Coordinates and, when necessary, manages in coordination with the Technical Assistance Department, the internal and external technical trainings related to the specific product line.
- Provides support in the preparation of technical texts, illustrating technical solutions and product application references.
- Develops and grows a network of sector specialist technicians (e.g. opinion leaders, university professors, association academies etc.).
- Manages situations of claims following the established procedure, visiting the job site together with the sales responsible and promptly informing all the other departments involved in the process.
- Ensures periodic reporting and promptly informs the Headquarters in case of any change and update. Works in close cooperation with the Corporate Product Management Department which provides guidelines, operative and specialist instructions.
- Provide technical support for the specifications and sales department, as well as assist in the generation of new and revised specifications as well as technical texts, illustrating technical solutions and product application references.
- Provide reports of all progress items throughout the month in the management meetings
- Ensure that CRM is kept up to date, for themselves and their team, with activities and ensure that data reflecting in the system is active and live.
- Provide CPD training to architects, engineers and other key business stakeholders.
- Conduct training for external stakeholders such as clients, contractors, applicators, at expos and seminars by doing product demonstrations, as well as train all internal staff on all product line details as required.
- Attend, assist in creating and facilitating marketing events for the product line.
- Travel to all outlying regions to provide product support when requested to do so.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to act with influence in a group environment with high standards of personal integrity and honesty
- Postgraduate degree in Engineering – Civil, Chemical, Structural
- 10 years’ experience in the field of Management in the Construction industry
