Purpose of the job:
To efficiently and effectively acquire goods and services for an organization.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification – Diploma or Degree - Essential
- At least 5 – 10 years proven experience as a Procurement Officer - Essential
Technical Competencies and responsibilities
- Sourcing and researching potential suppliers, assess their capabilities, and negotiate contracts to ensure the best value for the organization.
- Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
- Ensuring timely and accurate placement of purchase orders and manage the procurement process from start to finish.
- Analyzing spending patterns and identify opportunities to reduce costs through bulk purchasing, supplier negotiations, and process improvements.
- Monitoring and tracking procurement spending, providing regular reports on expenditures and cost savings.
- Monitoring inventory levels and work with logistics teams to ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
- Assessing the financial stability and operational capabilities of suppliers to mitigate potential risks.
- Ensuring that all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.
