What you’ll bring to the table:
- Fluency in Afrikaans – this is non-negotiable
- Strong Excel and analytical capabilities
- Excellent negotiation skills – you don’t back down easily
- Sharp eye for detail and strong organisational skills
- A mature, resilient outlook and the ability to work independently
- Natural relationship-builder and confident communicator
- Background in fruit exports ideal, but procurement across other goods (foods preferably) welcomed
- A positive, can-do energy that lifts the team
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee sourcing, procurement, QA, and logistics for fresh produce
- Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers and suppliers
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and monitor stock movements
- Coordinate loading schedules and product quality at packhouses
- Travel extensively across the Western Cape and beyond
- Liaise with sales teams to ensure timely deliveries
- Stay abreast of industry trends in harvesting, storing, and quality assurance
Requirements:
- Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, or Agricultural Economics
- Minimum 5 years in buying/procurement, ideally in fresh produce
- Hands-on approach, solutions-oriented mindset, and hunger to grow
