Procurement Executive

About the position

A prominent South African organisation is seeking an experienced Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to provide strategic leadership and oversight of its procurement and supply chain function. This is a high-impact executive role responsible for driving strategic sourcing, optimising supplier relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and securing critical goods and services essential to organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimise procurement strategies that support organisational goals and comply with national policies.
• Oversee end-to-end tender processes, contract management, and supplier performance to ensure value, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
• Ensure full compliance with all applicable procurement, healthcare, and laboratory legislation and regulations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement and supply chain team.
• Build strong internal partnerships to ensure procurement initiatives align with operational and organisational priorities.

Minimum Requirements

• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification.
• Professional credentials such as MCIPS or CA(SA) will be advantageous.
• 15+ years' supply chain management experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior or executive leadership role within a large public or private sector institution.
