About the position

Postion Summary:
The Research, Innovation and Impact, Support and Advancement (RIISA) Business Unit based in Pretoria seeks to appoint a qualified and dynamic individual for the following position: Procurement Assistant to perform Supply Chain Management (SCM) activities in the Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overall supply chain management activities for the business unit (Demand and Acquisition Management), including basic procurement planning, supplier identification and validation, preparation of requests for quotations and orders and scoring of quotations/bids in compliance with the relevant applicable SCM prescripts and regulations
  • Ensure compliance to SCM policies and procedures, rules and regulations, legislative objectives and other related frameworks
  • Provide support in the procuring of goods and services for the business unit
  • Ensure compliance with requirements in terms of SCM applicable thresholds
  • Guide the business and assist with preparation of deviations/variations where applicable
  • Administer the end-to-end tender and quotation process, tender documents preparation, bid invitations; tender briefings, bid administration; bid evaluation, pre- and adjudication and contract management
  • Communicate with the suppliers/vendors to source compliance documents
  • Assist in providing secretariat service to the Bid Committees: bid/tender advert, bids/tender documents for advertisements etc
  • Tenders are effectively processed and administered to ensure compliance to all statutory requirements and NRF policies
  • Process purchase orders for goods and services required
  • Update B-BBEE certificates on the systemSafeguard and maintain stationery and consumables stock in the storeOrder and receive stationery and consumablesIssue and process stationery requests issued to staffPerform stock count twice a yearRecords and documents are stored and archived in an organised manner for easy retrieval upon request

Minimum Qualification:
  • Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:
  • 2-5 years
  • National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance or equivalent
  • NQF 6Minimum of 2 years working experience in a Procurement environment (Public Sector Supply Chain Management experience required)

Experience:
  • Professionalism, integrity, reliability, independent, forward thinking and proactive champion of best practices
  • Time management skills Computer literacy in MS Office packages and internet usageExcellent administration skills

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of National Treasury Regulations, PPPFA regulations and PFMA
  • Knowledge in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Purchasing Management
