About the position
KWV a renowned South African brand and industry leader in the production of world-class wines, and other spirits has a permanent vacancy for a Process Operator, based in Paarl.

Purpose:
The incumbent will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all machines within the process area in accordance with work instructions. This includes conducting destructive and non-destructive quality inspections, performing autonomous maintenance, and ensuring consistent production of high-quality products with minimal wastage within defined parameters. The role requires a strong commitment to continuously upholding safety, quality, and compliance standards to ensure that only products meeting all required specifications are manufactured.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Minimum of 2 years' experience operating machines in a manufacturing or packaging environment
- Basic technical/mechanical aptitude relevant to production equipment
- Ability to perform physical work, including standing for long periods and manual handling
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to complete quality checks, production records, and documentation
- Willingness to work shifts
- Commitment to health, safety, quality, and food safety standards
Work Related Experience:
Experience in operating production or packaging machinery, including:
- Start-up and changeover processes
- Monitoring machine parameters
- Basic fault identification
Job Summary:
- Ensure machines operate effectively at all times, including pre-start-up checks, changeovers, and ongoing monitoring of parameters and coding systems
- Set up, operate, and monitor printer coding and relevant inspection equipment
- Perform, monitor, and record all quality and process control checks (including destructive and non-destructive testing) to ensure product compliance and traceability
- Measure, record, and control all packaging parameters, including wastage, taking preventive and corrective actions where required
- Conduct trend analysis on quality data to identify issues and improvement opportunities
- Verify all dry goods against orders and ensure proper return procedures are followed
- Perform first-line and autonomous maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection, in accordance with work instructions and maintenance schedules
- Ensure machines, work areas, and packaging environments meet hygiene, housekeeping (5S), and food safety standards
- Calibrate quality control equipment as required and liaise with the core lab when necessary
- Participate in MDWT and ensure boards are updated accordingly
- Maintain basic product knowledge to ensure adherence to specifications
- Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements, ensuring incidents are reported in line with procedure and a safe working environment is maintained
