An industry-leading steel manufacturing company with global operations is seeking Process Models Engineers to join their Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Vanderbijlpark. This team is at the forefront of innovation - leveraging engineering, mathematics, and IT to enhance and optimize production in steelmaking.
We are hiring across experience levels - from graduate engineers to seasoned professionals - who are passionate about applying smart technologies like Computer Vision, AI, and Advanced Process Modeling.
Requirements
- BEng/BSc Degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Electronic Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Strong analytical mindset and systems-thinking approach
- Programming skills or interest in automation, modeling, and simulation
- Openness to learning new technologies and working in multidisciplinary teams
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience with control systems, process simulation software, or digital transformation tools
- Exposure to AI/ML, data science, or industrial automation
- Previous work within steel, chemicals, or heavy manufacturing environments
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with process and technology specialists to evaluate and improve metallurgical processes
- Develop, implement, and optimize mathematical process models and applications
- Source new technologies and integrate models from global R&D
- Design and deploy in-house software tools and systems
- Ensure model accuracy and performance in real-time production environments
- Innovate and lead the use of AI/ML, digital twins, and data analytics in steelmaking
