About the position

We are looking for a senior Process Architecture & BPM Capability Specialist to define, implement and mature the enterprise process architecture and Business Process Management capability across the organisation.

The successful candidate will establish and govern enterprise-wide process standards, taxonomies, modelling practices, process ownership structures and BPM tooling. The role is central to enabling end-to-end traceability across business processes, systems, data, controls and architecture artefacts, supporting improved decision-making, operational efficiency, automation, compliance and digital transformation.

This is a strategic capability-building role suited to someone with strong experience in enterprise process architecture, BPM governance, process modelling standards, architecture alignment and process optimisation within a large, complex organisation.

Strategic Context
This role forms part of the bank's broader transformation agenda and is critical to strengthening how the organisation understands, governs and optimises its end-to-end business processes.

The role will help establish a single, governed view of the bank's processes across the enterprise, ensuring process architecture is aligned to business strategy, value chains, systems architecture, data flows, controls and delivery outcomes.

The successful candidate will work across multiple business areas, federated tribes, architecture teams and delivery teams to improve process maturity, reduce operational risk, support audit readiness, identify optimisation opportunities and enable better cost-to-income performance.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Process Architecture

  • Define, implement and maintain enterprise process architecture across all process levels, from L0 to L4.
  • Align process architecture to business strategy, operating models, value chains and transformation objectives.
  • Develop and govern a consistent enterprise process taxonomy, hierarchy and modelling approach.
  • Establish a single source of truth for process models, process standards and related process artefacts.
  • Ensure process architecture supports traceability from strategic intent through to operational execution.
  • Maintain consistency and quality across process models, repositories and documentation.

BPM Governance and Capability Development

  • Design, implement and mature BPM governance frameworks across the enterprise.
  • Define process ownership structures, governance forums, roles, responsibilities and decision rights.
  • Establish and maintain process modelling standards, conventions and quality assurance practices.
  • Support enterprise BPM maturity uplift initiatives across business units and federated delivery teams.
  • Embed governance, compliance and audit readiness into process management practices.
  • Drive consistent adoption of BPM standards across the organisation.

Process Tooling and Repository Management

  • Own, support or optimise BPM and process intelligence platforms such as ARIS, Celonis, Signavio or equivalent tools.
  • Ensure the process repository is maintained as a reliable and governed single source of truth.
  • Support the adoption and effective use of BPM tools by process engineers, business analysts and delivery teams.
  • Develop reusable templates, modelling standards, guidelines and artefacts.
  • Ensure process models are version-controlled, governed and aligned to enterprise standards.

Process, System, Data and Control Traceability

  • Enable end-to-end traceability across business processes, systems, applications, data, controls and architecture artefacts.
  • Work closely with Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, Data Architects and Business Architects to align process design with technology and data architecture.
  • Ensure process models clearly show system interactions, hand-offs, integration points and data flows.
  • Support impact analysis by linking process changes to downstream systems, data, controls and business capabilities.
  • Ensure process artefacts support decision-making, audit, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Process Optimisation and Performance Management

  • Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, duplication, control gaps and automation opportunities.
  • Use process metrics, process mining insights and operational data to support optimisation initiatives.
  • Define and track key process performance indicators such as cost, cycle time, automation levels, compliance and control effectiveness.
  • Support data-driven process improvement and automation prioritisation.
  • Contribute to cost optimisation, operational efficiency and improved delivery performance.

Community of Practice and Stakeholder Enablement

  • Build, support and mature a Process Engineering Community of Practice.
  • Provide coaching, training and modelling guidance to process engineers, business analysts and related stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops to drive process architecture alignment, process ownership and adoption of standards.
  • Influence stakeholders across business, technology, architecture, risk and operations.
  • Promote process thinking, BPM maturity and consistent governance across the organisation.

Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:

  • Proven experience in enterprise process architecture design within a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience implementing or maturing a Business Process Management capability.
  • Strong understanding of BPMN modelling standards and process lifecycle management.
  • Experience defining and governing process taxonomies, hierarchies, standards and repositories.
  • Hands-on experience with ARIS, Celonis, Signavio or equivalent BPM / process mining / process repository tools.
  • Experience linking business processes to systems, applications, data, controls and architecture artefacts.
  • Experience working closely with Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Business Architecture and Data Architecture teams.
  • Understanding of system interactions, integration points, data flows and end-to-end traceability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple business areas and delivery teams.
  • Ability to translate complex process, system and data relationships into clear, governed artefacts.

Advantageous Experience

  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Experience in a federated, agile or tribe-based delivery environment.
