Principal Engineer

About the position

Our client, a well-established consulting engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join their Water Department based in either Pretoria or Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled professional with strong technical expertise and leadership capability to play a strategic role in delivering complex water infrastructure projects.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 12 years' engineering experience within the water sector
• At least 5 years' post-registration experience (Pr Eng or equivalent)
• Specialist technical background in water engineering
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
• Strong design, project management, and technical review capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-level technical leadership and specialist input on water-related projects
• Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of water infrastructure projects
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and quality requirements
• Manage client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives
• Review and approve technical deliverables
