About the position
We are seeking a Principal Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to serve as technical SME across mining projects. This is a fixed term contract opportunity based in Johannesburg, with occasional site travel fully covered by the company.
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (2+ years)
Qualifications:
- Essential: BSc, BEng, or BTech in Electrical, Electronic, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering
- Essential: Trained in leadership and project execution
- Essential: Actively licensed with ECSA or equivalent where required by law
- Desirable: Training in risk management or quality
Requirements:
- 12+ years of relevant C&I engineering experience
- Mining project experience (mandatory)
- EPCM experience (mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of regulations, codes, and manufacturing standards
- Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content
Responsibilities:
- Serve as technical SME on all C&I engineering matters
- Ensure adherence to engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications
- Support standardization of instrumentation specifications, drawings, and templates
- Participate in bid clarifications, evaluations, and vendor information review
- Review and authorize work done by direct reports
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project success
