Power Systems Engineer

About the position

Seeking an Electrical Engineer with around 2 - 5 years experience in the design and delivery of HV electrical systems within a manufacturer, developer, owner, contractor or consultant capacity, to join the Energy team of a well respected engineering consultancy's Johannesburg office.

You will be involved in a wide range of power system projects in the transmission and distribution sectors. Supporting clients in areas such as solar, wind and interconnectors, utilities, data centres and industrial facilities.
Projects include HVAC and HVDC feasiblity and FEED, HVAC and HVDC design, project management, techno-economic assessments, and regulatory and advisory services. 

Requirements: 

• MSc, MEng. or BEng, BSc. degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Power Systems or similar
• Experienced in the design and delivery of HV electrical systems
• Experienced in modelling and analysis of HV electrical networks.
• Hands-on knowledge of at least two major power system analysis software: Digsilent PowerFactory, PSS/e, Matlab, PSCAD and RSCAD. 
• Familiar with relevant electrical codes and standards within the T&D environment
• Familiar with transmission network planning 
• Preparing functional specification of equipment
