What is on offer?
We have an exciting opportunity for four (4) coal sampling and preparation senior operators to join the AHK energy services team based in Richards Bay.
The primary functions of your role, in line with the Responsibilities are outlined below:
Lead the team and ensure that correct sampling and preparation procedures are followed for coal methods during the sampling and preparation of coal samples for laboratory testing.
Responsibilities
- To follow the Coal Sampling and Preparation Supervisor and AHK Management reasonable instructions related to sampling, sample preparation, basic analyses and sample storage.
- To deliver the prepared samples to laboratory within shortest TAT.
- Ensure that key customers work is prioritized and gets done efficiently and within agreed TAT.
- Ensure that all administrative and quality management system documentation is correct and up to date in sampling and preparation areas.
- To maintain the safety, health and environmental awareness within area of responsibility.
- Provide timekeeping records such as clocking information, planned and unplanned leave applications, overtime requests and schedules to coal sampling and preparation supervisor.
- Keep records of vehicle usage and checklists.
- Ensure that vehicle maintenance is conducted as intervals scheduled on the motor plan.
- Work on a flexible and rotating shift cycle including weekends and public holidays.
- Co-ordinate sample receiving ensuring that no swopping or contamination occurs- sample integrity.
- Assist with site agent duties- attendance of meetings at Port Operations for shipping info.
- Lead and assist with work related projects and jobs.
- Maintain the Method validation and equipment efficiency in sampling and preparation area.
- Ensure good housekeeping is maintained at all times, e.g. clean spillages, maintain floors, good sample storage protocols followed, etc.
- Uphold and adherence to quality, safety and security, confidentiality of information. E.g. ISO 17025.
- Provide relief when the Coal Sampling and Preparation Supervisor is not available
- Ensuring that all reasonable instructions are obeyed and carried out with diligence and duty
- Maintain discipline of team members and report deviation to Supervisors
- Able to conduct technical competency evaluating personnel performing sampling and preparation.
