About the position
DBN000161– Extraction Manager – KZN North Coast
Purpose of the job:
To lead and manage the extraction operations and maintenance teams within a heavy engineering environment, ensuring plant efficiency, safety, and reliability through strong leadership and technical expertise.
Required Qualifications
- B Tech / BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Government Certificate of Competence (GCC – Mechanical Factories)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a heavy engineering environment
- Experience managing capital projects and plant modifications
- Strong knowledge of milling and diffuser operations
- Experience with asset management and condition-based monitoring
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of food safety standards (ISO 22000) is advantageous
Technical Competencies and responsibilities
- Lead and manage extraction operations and maintenance teams
- Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of Cane Preparation, Juice Extraction, and De-watering Mill plants
- Implement and monitor planned and routine maintenance strategies to maximize plant availability
- Control operating and maintenance budgets for both season and off-crop periods
- Enforce and enhance safety procedures and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Identify operational and technical issues and provide effective, sustainable solutions
