About the position
Our client is looking for a Plant Maintenance Manager to join their team in Meyerton. This is a critical role at a new manufacturing facility that is set to become fully operational by September. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities on-site, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of equipment and machinery. The role focuses on maximizing equipment productivity, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, and ensuring efficient cost management through strategic maintenance planning.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze production activities to maintain a clear understanding of the manufacturing system
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies aligned with production priorities
- Execute corrective maintenance to resolve equipment malfunctions or anomalies promptly
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency
- Conduct regular process reviews and audits to ensure system functionality and regulatory compliance
- Supervise, support, and evaluate maintenance technicians for technical readiness and performance
- Manage spare parts inventory and material supply processes effectively
- Oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring cost optimization and efficient resource use
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and health and safety teams
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and adopt new technologies and methodologies to improve outcomes
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing maintenance operations in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong technical knowledge of production plants, equipment, and operational processes
- Understanding of engineering principles, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Experience in maintenance planning and execution (preventive, predictive, and corrective)
- Familiarity with industrial automation systems and diagnostic tools
- Ability to generate reports and track maintenance activities
- Knowledge of international regulations and standards relating to health, safety, and the environment
- Cost management and budget oversight experience
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage change, and perform under pressure
