PLANT IT Support Technician to be based in White River Mpumalanga

About the position

We are seeking an accomplished IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN to add to our team.
You'll be crucial to the upkeep, effectiveness, and seamless operation of the IT systems linked to our MANUFACTURING PLANT.

Training and Awareness: User Training on Plant Applications, Processes, and Cybersecurity Awareness - Initial Training for New Employees - Support in Collecting OT Requirements for IT-Related Topics Compliance and Risk Management: Compliance Enforcement on IT Standards, Procedures & Plant 4.0 Architecture - Risk Identification and Mitigation - Security Policies Implementation Support and Ticket Management: Proactive Support and Ticket Management - Incident Management, Troubleshooting, and Resolution - Answering Technical Queries and Training End-Users Technology Evaluation and Testing: Testing New Technologies (PDTs, Industrial Tablets) - Ensuring Data Consistency at Shop Floor Level Innovation and Improvement: Innovation and Improvement - Identifying Opportunities for Improvement and Applying Automation - Prototyping Developments for New User Experience Requirements Asset and Project Management: Hardware and Software Monitoring - Asset Management on All Hardware and Software - Participation in Plant-Related Projects and Executing Specific Tasks - Managing Third-Party Contractors Coordination and Alignment: Aligning with Global Standards and Keeping Uniformity with Other Plants - Assisting IT Syscom in Ensuring IT Hardware Maintenance and Availability - Coordinating Outside Repairs and Installations

The purpose of the role is to:

ensure seamless operations on the plant floor by providing comprehensive support for shop floor applications, equipping employees with the necessary tools and training to optimize productivity, and actively participating in IT-related projects crucial to the plant's success.
It revolves around maintaining a delicate balance between delivering high-quality solutions and maintaining efficient response and resolution times, all while prioritizing the functionality and security of essential equipment and services needed for day-to-day operations.

The minimum requirements for the role are:

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Engineering or other relevant professional training related to Information Technologies with strong fluency in English.
• Proven experience in IT (preferably in industrial environments), with the knowledge and ability to assess, troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective or inadequate software and hardware.
• Must be willing to pass a medical before starting with the company if your application is successful
• Must be a South African Citizen with a valid drivers licence and own reliable transport
• Must stay in or close to White River, Mpumalanga OR be willing to relocate to this area if successful

WILL COUNT IN YOUR FAVOUR / BE HIGHLY BENEFICIAL IF YOU ALSO HAVE:

• Understanding of Weighbridge Technology
• Knowledge of software applications for shop floor (MES, WMS, QMS, among others)
• Good understanding of CCTV Technology and Network
