About the position
Job Summary: As the Factory Accountant, plant accountant, Cost Accountant , you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of our manufacturing facility . This role requires a proactive professional with strong technical accounting skills and experience in a manufacturing environment. The Factory Accountant will ensure accurate cost allocation, budget monitoring, and financial reporting, thereby supporting effective decision-making and operational efficiency at the factory level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting & Analysis:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of cost accounting, including material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Prepare detailed cost reports, analyze variances, and recommend cost-control measures.
- Collaborate with production and procurement teams to monitor and allocate manufacturing costs accurately.
- Financial Reporting:
- Maintain the general ledger for the factory and ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports that reflect the financial performance and position of the factory.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, comparing actual results to budgeted figures.
- Inventory & Fixed Assets Management:
- Ensure proper accounting for inventory and raw materials in accordance with local standards.
- Track and reconcile fixed assets, ensuring proper capitalization, depreciation, and disposal procedures are followed.
- Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to statutory requirements and internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and support external audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Continuously monitor and enhance internal controls within the factory’s financial processes.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Implement best practices and support the integration of new financial systems or ERP solutions.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Liaise with production managers, procurement teams, and other relevant departments to support financial decision-making.
- Communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive operational improvements.
- Provide training and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Honors degree in Accounting, Finance, or CIMA qualification..
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.

- Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures and principles.
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Advanced MS Excel skills.

- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
