Position Summary
Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Planner / Scheduler to support the successful delivery of large-scale EPC projects in Durban. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, as well as ensuring coordination between disciplines to maintain project timelines and progress. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or other planning software
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project milestones and deliverables
- Monitor project progress and report on deviations from baseline plans, identifying potential schedule risks and recommending mitigation measures
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and subcontracting teams to ensure alignment of schedule activities and resource allocations
- Prepare and deliver regular progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and delay analysis documentation
- Support the implementation of earned value management techniques and integrate cost and schedule performance
- Manage schedule interfaces between different disciplines and subcontractors
- Participate in risk assessments related to scheduling and timeline impacts
- Support the change management process by evaluating time impacts of scope variations
- Ensure compliance with project scheduling standards and procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in planning and scheduling roles within the EPC industry
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and related scheduling tools
- In-depth understanding of project lifecycles, critical path method (CPM), and resource-loaded schedules
- Experience in major infrastructure, energy, or marine projects is highly desirable
- Familiarity with project control principles, work breakdown structures (WBS), and earned value analysis
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and under pressure
