About the position
Our client in the food manufacture industry is looking for Planner (Cost Accountant) To manage all stock, ensuring that materials, services, and supplies are purchased at the
best possible price while meeting the required specifications within the required time frames.
Key roles:
- Determine procurement needs of the business, ensuring all stores are correctly stocked and managed.
- Ensure all raw materials and packaging are available on time as needed by production.
- Determine weekly planning schedule.
- Responsible for forecasting, sourcing, negotiating, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
- Prepare associated reports for the management team, including recommendations to improve performance and reduce costs.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Planning and sequence plan.
- Calculating forecasts, ordering, and tracking bulk orders from local and overseas suppliers.
- Calculating forecasts, ordering, and tracking all packaging orders.
- Manage team responsible for the day-to-day ordering of raw materials and logistics handling.
- Manage stock control/counts and take responsibility for variances and COS calculations.
- Manage suppliers, ensuring on-time, in-full deliveries at the required specifications.
- Negotiating prices and trying to get better deals.
- Investigate potential new suppliers.
- Develop procurement-related policies as may be needed.
- Costings.
Relevant education and experience level
- Tertiary qualification in cost accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in a similar role.
- Valid RSA driver's license.
