About Us:
- At Wits - RehabMatters we specialise in multi-disciplinary physical rehabilitation for adults
- We place our patients and their families at the centre of the rehabilitation journey and aim to restore their identity and enable the fulfilment of their life roles
- We are a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists whose goal is to provide continuous care along the rehabilitation journey from acute treatment to outpatient therapy, and beyond into the community and the workplace
- Our dedicated Physiotherapy team empowers patients on their recovery journey, focusing on enhancing independent living, developing adaptive strategies, and helping them regain the ability to engage in meaningful activities, ultimately improving their overall quality of life
Main purpose of the job:
- Delivery of physiotherapy assessment and treatment
Location:
- 200 Rivonia Road Medical Centre - Morningside
Key performance areas:
This role would be focused on the outpatient department and home visit service
- Assessment and Evaluation: Ability to assess patients' physical function, and movement patterns to create personalised treatment plans
- Therapy: Proficiency in hands-on techniques to improve mobility, such as joint mobilisation and soft tissue manipulation - Knowledge of therapeutic exercises tailored to strengthen muscles, enhance flexibility, and reduce pain - Strong manual handling and transfer technique
- Patient Education: Skills to educate patients about body mechanics and self-care techniques to empower them in their recovery
- Collaboration: Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for holistic care
- Documentation: Tracking progress and updating treatment plans
Required minimum education and training:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy
- Experience in adult rehabilitation and multidisciplinary team working
- South African Citizen or valid work Visa
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and basic IT platforms
Required minimum work experience:
- 2+ years relevant experience
Professional body registration:
- Current HPCSA registration
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Experience in adult neuro particularly in the outpatient/home visit environment is preferable
- Valid driver’s license and personal car to enable easy travel between units
