About the position
Our client is seeking an experienced PHP Developer to take ownership of a critical, production-based software platform within the Revenue Systems environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a developer who enjoys working with established systems, driving continuous improvement, and becoming the in-house technical authority on a business-critical platform serving a growing customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of an existing PHP-based software platform and its ongoing development.
- Participate in structured knowledge transfer from the current external development partner.
- Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance production applications.
- Develop new functionality and improve existing platform capabilities.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
- Optimise database performance, queries, and application efficiency.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term platform evolution.
- Collaborate within Agile development teams and participate in code reviews.
- Maintain technical documentation and development standards.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent commercial experience.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial PHP development experience.
- Strong experience with PHP 8 or later.
- Experience with Laravel and/or Symfony frameworks.
- Ability to work effectively with both modern and legacy PHP codebases.
- Strong MySQL and/or PostgreSQL experience.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Understanding of OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, and secure integration practices.
- Experience with Git workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD environments.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
