About the position
My client based in Kuilsriver, Cape Town is currently looking for a Payroll & Benefits Officer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll accurately, consistently and within agreed deadlines.
- Administer payroll, benefits and leave systems.
- Process earnings, deductions, allowances and other payroll inputs.
- Load new employees, process terminations and maintain employee information on SAGE 300 People.
- Review and approve payroll claims and employee personal detail changes.
- Liaise with managers regarding payroll hours, incentives and payroll-related information.
- Ensure payroll processes comply with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and respond to employee and management queries.
- Prepare PAYE, UIF and SDL reconciliations and statutory submissions.
- Prepare payroll-related GL and third-party reconciliations and payments.
- Assist with external payroll audits.
- Prepare accurate monthly payroll reports and payroll files.
- Assist with UI19/UI2.7 forms and absenteeism reporting when required.
- Administer employee benefits, including Medical Aid, Medical Insurance, Gap Cover and Provident Fund.
- Process benefit changes, reconciliations and provider submissions within required deadlines.
- Assist with the annual benefits open period and ensure changes are correctly processed.
- Process and follow up on provident fund withdrawal forms.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Payroll / HR (Degree or Diploma)
- Approximately 3 years' relevant payroll experience
- Experience working on a payroll system, preferably SAGE 300 People
- Experience processing both hourly and salaried payroll
Competencies
- Proficient in SAGE 300 People
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of Payroll and HR systems
- Knowledge of PAYE and statutory compliance
- Understanding of employee benefits and payroll reconciliation
- Knowledge of relevant Labour Legislation, including BCEA, Skills Development and Employment Equity
- Understanding of Tax Regulations relating to remuneration
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage confidential payroll information
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Papertrail, SARS EasyFile, SARS e-Filing and FNB Online Banking
