Payroll / HR Administrator

Our client is looking for an experienced HR / Payroll Administrator to join their Human Resources team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across both payroll and general HR administration and is confident working independently with sensitive employee information.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the accurate and timely monthly payroll, while supporting a broad range of HR functions including employee benefits, statutory compliance, employee records, leave and attendance, training and employee lifecycle administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the monthly payroll process
- Process payroll inputs including salaries, allowances, overtime, commissions, deductions and terminations
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and variance reports
- Manage PAYE, EMP201, EMP501, UIF, COIDA and other statutory submissions
- Process IRP5 and IT3(a) certificates
- Administer employee benefits including medical aid, provident fund and group risk
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in line with POPIA
- Administer leave, time and attendance and Employee Self Service
- Support recruitment, onboarding, contracts, probation and employee exits
- Provide administration relating to disciplinary and grievance processes
- Coordinate training initiatives and liaise with the relevant SETA
- Maintain training records and support WSP/ATR and B-BBEE requirements
- Assist with HR audits, inspections and annual audit requirements
- Provide general HR administration and employee support
Requirements
- Matric with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Relevant HR or Payroll qualification preferred
- Minimum 3 years' payroll and HR administration experience
- At least 2 years' full responsibility for a monthly payroll run
- Strong Sage Payroll experience preferred
- Practical SARS eFiling and e@syFile experience
- Understanding of the SETA environment
- Knowledge of relevant labour legislation, including BCEA, LRA, UIF, COIDA, SDL, B-BBEE and POPIA
- Advanced Excel and general computer literacy
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and people skills
- Ability to work independently and meet strict payroll and statutory deadlines
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
