About the position
The Payroll / HR Administrator will provide dedicated operational and system support to stabilise payroll and HR processes, address existing backlogs, and implement efficiencies within the HR system (Workday). The role is specifically focused on enabling the team to meet critical deadlines, optimise system utilisation, eliminate manual processes, and ensure that sustainable processes are embedded and maintained beyond the contract period. HR Systems & Workday Optimisation:
Bring all outstanding and current HR system changes up to date, ensuring accuracy, Compliance, and audit readiness.
Support and train the existing HR and payroll team on Workday functionality, best practices, and system utilisation.
Explore opportunities to eliminate manual forms and processes by fully leveraging Workday and related HR systems.
Assist with and support the migration of leave processing from ESS to Workday, including testing, validation, and user adoption.
Identify system gaps, inefficiencies, or workarounds and propose practical, scalable solutions.
Payroll Support & Process Efficiency:
Provide hands-on assistance to the Payroll Administrator to address payroll bottlenecks and high-volume pressure points.
Support payroll processing to ensure tight deadlines are consistently met without compromising accuracy or compliance.
Identify opportunities for efficiencies, automation, and improved workflows within payroll-related processes.
Assist with backlog clearance related to payroll inputs, system updates, reporting, and reconciliations.
Process Improvement & Stabilisation:
Assist the HR and payroll team to streamline work processes, focusing on improvements, efficiencies, innovation, and risk reduction.
Roll out outstanding HR and payroll-related projects that have been delayed due to capacity constraints.
Develop, document, and implement clear processes, SOPs, and guidelines to ensure continuity and sustainability.
Transfer knowledge and ownership of processes to responsible team members to ensurongoing maintenance post-contract.
Support change management and adoption of new processes and system enhancements.
General HR & Administrative Support:
Provide operational HR administration support as required to relieve pressure on the team during peak periods.
Ensure data integrity across HR and payroll systems.
Support audit, compliance, and reporting requirements where applicable.
HR and payroll backlogs cleared and processes stabilised.

Upskilled HR and payroll team with increased system competence and confidence.
Relevant HR, Payroll, or Administration qualification (Diploma or Degree advantageous).
8-10 years' experience in an HR and/or payroll administration environment.
Strong system and process orientation with a continuous improvement mindset.
Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to transfer knowledge effectively.
Proven experience working with HRIS systems, Workday is essential.
Experience supporting payroll processes in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Demonstrated experience in process improvement, system optimisation, or project support.
Experience with leave administration and system migrations (ESS to Workday advantageous).
Extensive Payroll knowledge and experience (Sage/VIP is essential)
