Payroll Administrator (Sage 300)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Payroll Administrator to manage the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining payroll records, ensuring compliance with South African payroll legislation, preparing statutory submissions, and providing professional payroll support to employees. This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Process monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
- Capture, maintain, and update employee payroll information.
- Calculate salaries, wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, allowances, and deductions.
- Process new employee appointments, terminations, leave transactions, and payroll changes.
- Generate and distribute payslips and payroll reports.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Compliance & Statutory Reporting
- Ensure payroll processes comply with South African payroll, tax, and labour legislation.
- Prepare and submit statutory payroll reports and payments, including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and other legislative requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with payroll audits and ensure appropriate payroll controls are maintained.
Employee Support
- Respond professionally and confidentially to employee payroll queries.
- Provide guidance on payroll-related matters and resolve payroll issues promptly.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare payroll reports for management.
- Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
- Assist with continuous improvements to payroll processes and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Diploma or Certificate in Payroll Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or Accounting (advantageous).
- 2-5 years' payroll administration experience.
- Proven experience using Sage 300 Payroll / Sage 300 People.
- Sound knowledge of South African payroll legislation, taxation, and statutory requirements.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Knowledge & Skills
- Payroll processing principles and best practices.
- South African payroll legislation and statutory compliance.
- PAYE, UIF, SDL, and other statutory payroll requirements.
- Payroll reconciliations and reporting.
- Payroll software, preferably Sage 300 People.
