Role: Technical Operations Manager

Overview:
We're hiring a Technical Operations Manager to lead the configuration, onboarding, and support functions at a high-growth fintech working at the core of South Africa's payments ecosystem. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in the detail, enjoys solving complex operational issues, and is ready to take full ownership of technical processes and incident resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor 2 Team Leads (Operations + Customer Success), overseeing a team of 8
- Own the technical operations process end-to-end: onboarding, configuration, support, and escalation
- Lead and improve data-driven QA, automation, and process monitoring
- Conduct deep-dive analysis using raw data (CSV, Excel) to identify errors, detect anomalies, and ensure service continuity
- Step in to assist directly with complex issues - this is not a pure management role
- Work closely with engineering teams to resolve infrastructure and platform incidents
- Maintain visibility over system performance and incident response, including via observability tools (e.g. Grafana - nice to have)
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- Strong data analysis capabilities - Excel, CSV parsing, anomaly detection, QA mindset
- Background in payments or adjacent financial services (non-negotiable)
- Experience managing small technical teams while staying hands-on
- Self-sufficient problem-solver - no reliance on a large data/BI team
- Process automation or error detection experience is highly desirable
- Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced, and at times high-pressure environment
