Pavement Engineer

About the position

Our client is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm has a vacancy for a Pavement Engineer in its Transportation Infrastructure Division in Cape Town.

Requirements:

• BSc/BEng degree in civil engineering
• Professional registration with ECSA
• Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience
• Design engineer experience on national road projects
• Pavement design experience and strong technical knowledge
• Have experience with Rubicon Toolbox, cncPAVE, MS Office Suite

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for the general management of medium to large transportation infrastructure projects
• Responsible for the project management and coordination of multi-disciplinary project teams
• Manage budgets, resourcing and outsourcing of project work within the service group, as well as agree project budgets with other sections on large projects comprising multi-disciplinary project teams
• Author competent technical reports of outstanding technical quality
• Check work of all those in the project team and take responsibility for their work
• Supervise engineers or technicians in undertaking checks and inspections of constructed works for compliance with design and specifications, including monitoring and proposing remedial actions
• Clear knowledge of work procedures and ability to brief project team on them
• Assign work to others
• Regular client contact and management of client relationships
• Build sustainable relationships with clients

Experience:

• Team leader experience that includes project planning, staffing and task management
• Project management experience that includes client management financial management and scheduling management

• Competency in pavement design, contract management, project management, professional development, client service
• Ability to meet deadlines and commitments and hold team accountable for team deadlines
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
• Management of technical teams
• In depth experience of government standards, codes and documentation
• Knowledge of OHS requirements

• Overseeing and delivery of design standards at a specialist level
