About the position

DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSYS:
This reputable manufacturing company in Cape Town is looking for an experienced Paper Cup Setter to join their dynamic team. This key role involves leading machine operators and packers in a fast-paced paper cup production environment. The successful candidate will oversee the setup and operation of printing, die cutting, and cup forming machines, enforce quality control measures, and ensure efficient, timely production. If you're a hands-on leader with technical expertise in paper cup manufacturing, this is your chance to grow in a high-standard operational plant.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Technical qualification in mechanical or production-related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years' experience in paper cup manufacturing or a related industry
  • Strong knowledge of cup forming, die cutting, and printing machines
  • Proven leadership experience in a production environment
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot machinery and process issues
  • Understanding of quality control standards and production efficiency

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage operators and packers during production shifts
  • Set up and operate cup forming, die cutting, and printing machines
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and resolve equipment-related issues
  • Ensure smooth changeovers between different cup sizes
  • Maintain machines to operate at standard speed and efficiency
  • Enforce strict quality and colour standards in line with QA expectations
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to address and correct defects
  • Monitor and maintain equipment calibration and service schedules
  • Collaborate with planning teams on production scheduling
  • Track and report production data, including yield, downtime, and efficiency
  • Maintain clear communication across teams and shifts
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and growth-focused work culture
