About the position
Our client, a leading Textile Manufacturing company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Packing Manager.
Purpose of the Role:
Primary responsibility will be to manage and lead the packing department, ensuring that finished products are packaged accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of packing personnel, including scheduling and managing work assignments.
- Ensure that all packed products meet established quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Optimize packing processes and workflows to maximize efficiency while minimizing waste and errors.
- Maintain accurate records of packaging materials and supplies, order replenishments, and monitor stock levels.
- Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of packing equipment and tools, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
- Set productivity goals and targets for the packing team, tracking performance and implementing improvements as necessary.
- Ensure that all packing activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety within the department.
- Maintain detailed records of packing activities, including production reports, quality control checks, and inventory records.
- Collaborate with production teams, quality control personnel, and logistics to coordinate packing schedules and address any production or quality issues.
- Provide training to packing personnel on quality standards, packing processes, and safety procedures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements that can enhance packing efficiency and product quality.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Any other duties that may be delegated by the relevant manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- Relevant experience
