RCL Foods is seeking a Packing Manager to join our Sugar Division. The role will be based at our Pongola Mill and report to the Operations Manager (Sugar & Packing)RCL Foods entrusts the Packing Manager to manage production according to a prescribed packing plan, maintenance, and resource planning, direct and co-ordinate the activities of the packaging process within prescribed quality and safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
- ND/BTech/BSc/BEng: Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/ Industrial Engineering; Chemistry; Food Technology or equivalent qualifications.
- Computer Literate – MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and MS Projects.
- Strategic decision-making skills at both an operational and technical level.
- 5 Years’ Sugar Factory/Packing/Production experience with at least three years directly responsible for operation and/or production.
- Knowledge of the ISO, FSSC, OHSA systems and standards.
- Technically and analytically orientated.
- Competent in performing Technical Investigations and report writing.
- 10 Week Sugar Manufacturing Course and SAP proficiency will be an added advantage.
- To be considered for appointment, candidate must be a South African citizen.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for packing station operation (Production and Maintenance).
- Manage production: pack according to production plan (S&OP) and ensure material supply.
- Manage maintenance and availability of packing machines to ensure that the right commodities are packed at the right time as per prescribed S&OP requirements.
- Low-cost production: low-cost operations and minimize sugar waste.
- Compile and control expenditure on maintenance, operational, materials, employment, and capital budgets
- Conceptualise, develop, and deliver capital expenditure projects.
- Performance management, including coaching, mentoring and development of employees.
- Manage Packing station contracts and contractors.
- Manage ISO, FSSC and OHSA systems and programmes in conjunction with the SHEQ department to ensure high level of compliance is met
- Report and investigate accidents, incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Maintain high quality work standards, comply with safety standards and requirements, and ensure good housekeeping in area of responsibility.
