Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Packaging Specialist to join their Marketing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative packaging solutions that are commercially viable, technically sound, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with both brand and operational objectives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work across multiple FMCG product categories while supporting new product development and continuous packaging improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of packaging solutions across multiple FMCG product categories.
- Manage packaging development projects from concept through to commercial launch.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and approved suppliers to deliver innovative packaging solutions.
- Coordinate packaging artwork development, review, approval, and print management while ensuring compliance with company branding and legislative requirements.
- Ensure all packaging complies with Consumer Protection Act (CPA) labelling regulations and applicable industry standards.
- Conduct packaging trials, compatibility testing, and production line evaluations.
- Develop, maintain, and control packaging specifications and technical documentation.
- Optimise pallet configurations, shipping layouts, and packaging efficiencies using packaging systems where applicable.
- Drive packaging cost reduction and value engineering initiatives without compromising quality or performance.
- Investigate and resolve packaging-related technical issues while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Packaging Technology, Industrial Design, or a related technical qualification.
- Minimum 4 years' packaging development experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, printing processes, artwork management, and packaging compliance.
- Experience working with packaging systems such as TOPS Pro or Cape Pack will be advantageous.
- Sound understanding of Consumer Protection Act (CPA) labelling requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience will be advantageous.
