About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
A leading Retailer is seeking an Outbound / Dispatch Supervisor to oversee and manage the efficient dispatch of finished goods from the warehouse to customers and retail outlets. This role ensures timely and accurate outbound shipments, compliance with delivery schedules, and coordination with transport providers while maintaining high customer service standards.
DUTIES:
- Supervise daily outbound operations, including order picking, packing, loading, and dispatching.
- Ensure accuracy of orders and proper documentation (invoices, waybills, delivery notes).
- Coordinate with couriers and transporters to schedule and track deliveries.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels in dispatch bays to ensure proper rotation and prevent delays.
- Manage dispatch staff, including assigning tasks, shift scheduling, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company SOPs.
- Liaise with the sales, warehouse, and customer service teams to resolve issues or special delivery requests.
- Conduct vehicle checks and loading inspections to ensure product security and safety during transit.
- Generate and maintain dispatch reports on delivery status (Delivery success rates), order discrepancies, and turnaround time.
- Route and vehicle optimization finding the most efficient paths and vehicle assignments for deliveries or other tasks and cost saving.
- Vehicle Maintenance Service, Repairs, Petrol cards and daily vehicle check list.
- Manage debriefing Process Filing all PODs and manage all customer returns
- Responsible for all dispatch related issues.
- Staff training and SOP reviews
- Managing customer service and logistics needs Customer complaints and feedback
- Adhere to strict delivery deadlines
REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric (Grade 12) is essential; a logistics or supply chain qualification is advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a supervisory role in warehousing or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of dispatch operations, route planning, and transport coordination.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport preferred.
