About the position
Purpose:
The role incumbent will serve as a national senior specialist, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Group in Southern Africa through planned changes in workforce capabilities, structures, and frameworks. They will deliver key organisational design components such as job architecture, structures, operating models, and workforce planning, aligning with the Group's transformational objectives.
Additionally, the incumbent will assist the business in designing future-fit structures that respond to the evolving world of work and industry. The role also involves conducting research, analysing data, and consulting with executives and leadership to determine the best course of action. This includes focusing on the people side of change, helping employees adapt to new processes, technologies, or organisational structures, and ensuring smooth transitions and successful implementations.
Reporting to Group Chief People Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a change management strategy to define, lead, and support the implementation of required organisational change management activities
- Lead cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate risks associated with change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and successful project outcomes
- Design and manage the execution of all change leadership activities, including people risk and impact analysis, leadership alignment, stakeholder engagement, deployment communications, security role mapping, cutover readiness, and hyper-care activities
- Support project teams to integrate change management activities into their project plans
- Develop and implement an OD strategy/framework to foster a culture of collaboration, high performance, learning, and continuous improvement
- Leverage organisational diagnostic tools such as culture surveys and employee engagement surveys and develop a comprehensive plan to facilitate behavioural and other changes to achieve corporate and individual objectives
- Provide thought leadership in the design and development of key organisational design and development projects, including mergers/acquisitions/integrations
- Provide expert advice on organisational design best practices and trends, tailoring solutions to the specific cultural and operational context of the business
- Design and maintain the job evaluation methodology
- Facilitate job profiling and job grading sessions
- Update and maintain the jobs library and ensure each role has a job description
- Develop an implementation plan to operationalise any operating model, structures and roles design
- Ensure compliance with relevant labour legislation, industry regulations, and governance standards during the organisational design process
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns, ensuring their buy-in and support for OD and change initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as organisational development, organisational psychology, human resources, or a business-related discipline
- Prosci certification in change management is essential
- At least 10 years' experience in change management and organisational development, including 5 years in a senior specialist position
- Experience in the Retail/FMCG environment, providing comprehensive HR services
- Experience in organisational design
- Advanced working knowledge of project management methodology and approaches
- Deep understanding in job architecture, organisational design and operating model development
- Advanced working knowledge in change management methodologies and tools, such as ADKAR or Kotter's 8-Step Process, and software including project management tools (such as Asana, Trello) and communication platforms (e.g., Slack, Miro, Microsoft Teams)
