About the position
My client based in Bellville, Cape Town is currently looking for an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join their team on a contract basis.
IT / FINANCE
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain and support high-quality software solutions.
- Develop solutions that align with business strategies and requirements.
- Improve existing systems and optimise code for performance and innovation.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex applications and identify root causes.
- Mentor and guide junior developers.
- Facilitate technical design sessions and promote development best practices.
- Provide technical input into test plans and support accurate unit testing and automation.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts and IT Operations.
- Document technical requirements, processes and solutions for knowledge sharing.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and cross-functional team discussions.
- Identify opportunities for system and process improvements.
- Implement innovative technology solutions.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in relevant technology forums.
- Support continuous improvement across the software delivery function.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3-year tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
- Strong experience with Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Forms.
- Solid database development experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with XML, SOAP, WCF and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in HTML5, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery and JSON.
- Experience with PHP, Message Queues and database development.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git and AWS Web Services.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Experience working with large and complex codebases.
- FinTech experience would be advantageous.
- Additional experience with MS SQL Server and MySQL would be advantageous.
