About the position
To ensure the seamless operation of the Distribution Centre through effective resource management, risk mitigation, and operational efficiencies. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for tactical planning and execution, building a highly accountable team, and driving operational excellence to ensure DC profitability.

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric is essential.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Warehouse Management (Advantageous).
- 3-5 years supervisory experience within the logistics and warehousing industry
- Systems: Proficiency in Streamline WMS (Warehouse Management System).
- Software: Strong MS Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Operational Skills: Exceptional workload planning, resource utilization, and quick, data-driven decision-making abilities on the warehouse floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operational Execution
- Oversee and execute all daily DC activities, including Inbound, Outbound, and Inventory Management.
- Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies across all shifts.
- Implement and monitor robust control measures to mitigate operational risk reduce shrink and improve overall customer satisfactory.
Resource & Team Management
- Directly manage a team of 10–20 staff members, including MHE Operators, Tally Clerks, Checkers, Warehouse Admin, and General Workers.
- Lead the onboarding, training, and continuous development of warehouse staff.
- Drive a culture of high performance, structure, and absolute accountability.
Planning & Cost Optimization
- Dynamically plan and allocate labour and equipment resources to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage operational capacity to contain costs, minimize unnecessary overtime, and maximize DC profitability.
- Effectively plan for upcoming projects and ensure all operational deadlines are met.
Housekeeping & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by enforcing strict 5S compliance and health and safety standards.
Asset & consumable management
- Implement necessary control measures to effectively manage assets and consumables within your area of responsibility which include daily control logs, consumable counts and proactive communication for order placement to avoid stock-out
Key performance indicators:
- OTIF (On-Time In-Full): Ensuring accurate and timely dispatches and receipts.
- Inventory Accuracy: Maintaining precise stock counts and minimizing variances.
- Overall Working Rate & Work Completion: Maximizing throughput and ensuring daily tasks are completed within deadlines.
- Process Adherence: Ensuring 100% compliance with SOPs and risk-mitigation policies.
- 5S Compliance: Maintaining warehouse standards and organization.
