About the position
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and optimising all manufacturing and operational activities to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production that meets customer requirements and business objectives. The role will ensure that factory capacity is effectively utilised and operational plans are executed on time.
Education, skills & experience
- Matric
- Degree in Supply Chain / Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related field
- Certificate in Lean manufacturing/ Six Sigma
- 5 years' experience in an operations management role in a manufacturing setting
- Proven experience managing production, scheduling, and factory operations
- Strong understanding of supply chain coordination and inventory management
- Experience managing large operational teams
- Experience working with ERP/MRP/ MES systems
Role and responsibilities
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met.
- Ensure production activities align with quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Develop and manage production schedules aligned with factory capacity and demand.
- Balance workload across departments to optimise throughput.
- Ensure production priorities are clearly communicated and executed.
- Coordinate material availability to support uninterrupted production.
- Monitor inventory levels to optimise stock holdings and working capital.
- Address material shortages or constraints that may impact production.
- Monitor product quality and drive corrective actions where deviations occur.
- Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive a strong safety culture within operations.
- Monitor safety performance and implement corrective actions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams to achieve high performance.
- Manage attendance, discipline, and performance in line with company policies.
- Monitor operational KPIs and analyse performance trends.
- Provide regular reporting and operational insights to the Engineering and Plant General Manager.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
